Hello developer community!
I’ve tried to turn to basically every support chat available to a new wordpress user, but I thought I would try to turn to the community instead as a last resort. These questions have probably been answered before in isolation, and if so I apologise, but I still feel the need to ask these questions in conjunction for myself:
I’m an engineering student, and I’ve always done web/app development through the use of git and github for version control and deployment. Now I want to do the same with wordpress, or understand how a good developer environment and workflow looks with wordpress. So these are my questions:
1. Can you refer me to a guide/tutorial/resource of how to setup git to develop locally, use github to deploy a website and use version control? I am using BlueHost, so if it is possible to do with them it would be great, but I’d gladly migrate for another service if it’s somehow easier.
2. Is it possible to use the wp-admin view locally? I do not necessarily want to dive into the code when I develop locally, rather I just want to be able to develop without an internet connection and run tests before I deploy online.
If you have an answer to these questions, or could point me to a resource of how a great development setup can be created to develop locally and deploy online with version control like it’s usually done with web/mobile development, I would really appreciate it if you would share these with me.
