Show Categories on Shop page

Hi,
I’m trying to show only the categories on the shop page.
I’ve changed the setting in customiser>woocommerce>archive>shop display to “show categories” and customiser>woocommerce>archive>category display to “show product”, but all i get is a blank page for the shop.
please advise.
