When does it start counting the cut-off time? What’s the trigger?

Hi there,

could you please explain how the counter works for the abandoned cart?
e.g. cart abandoned cut-off time = 15min

Is there any difference:
Visitor adds item to cart and leaves shop within 15min
Visitor adds item to cart and stays on shop but does not purchase
Visitor adds item to cart and goes to checkout page but does not actually purchase
Visitor adds item to cart but does not go to cart page page because side-cart is installed

I tried to understand when it starts counting those 15 minutes but could not figure it out yet
