If you do not want to use a php based standalone my guess is this forum offers the most stable platform. Its a one man show now though, the previously supporting plugins are all old and unsupported – some creating hart to fix issues – and the software alone is pretty short even on moderately useful features (for a forum software). E.g. the admin/mods can not move single messages to other topics, the entire registration is left to the cumbersome wordpress reg and external plugins that could help here are seemingly incompatible and create issues. On the support front there is dead silence. Entries into the support forum take forver to elicit a response and if they do its often unhelpful. I get it that its not a money maker for the creator, on the other hand, few second rate plugins with little support are.
