Validate duplicate usernames and emails before payments

Hi,

I’m trying to create a payment registration form where users pay for membership to my site. I’m doing this by using your registration form with the Paypal checkout.

Basically the user fills out the form, clicks the Paypal Checkout button, pays, and gets a shiny new account once the payment has successfully gone through.

When testing it, I came across an issue that I’m having some difficulty with:

The form only seems to check for duplicate usernames and emails AFTER the payment has gone through.

This means that if someone has a duplicate username or email, it will take their money first and then tell them that their username or email is duplicate. If the user chooses a different username or email, they have to pay again.

Is there anyway to validate duplicate usernames and emails BEFORE asking for payment?

Thank you.
