UM Conflict with CSS?

I have a feeling there is a conflict with the JS or CSS in my attempt at a custom theme, see below:

I’ve tried adding

.um {
opacity: 1 !important;
}

to custom CSS but hasn’t worked. When I disable custom JS and CSS in settings it shows all the form’s fields, including those that are hidden.

Any great ideas please would be gratefully received!
