mailpoet captcha image not appearing for Non-Logged-In users

Hi All:
I have read the documentation re: captcha not appearing; there is no blank line in the page source.

When using the mailpoet default captcha, clicking the signup button opens a captcha page, with a captcha visible IF the user is logged in.
If not logged in, no captcha image appears.

Any ideas??

As a side note, I really don’t want to use the google captcha; invisible V2 seems to still show the “I’m not a Robot” checkbox; and on a sidebar, it’s ugly. And, I suppose if the checkbox could be AFTER the signup button (instead of between the email form & the button) it might be ok. But I don’t know how to make that happen.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
