SKU not generated when “Use product slug” is selected

Hi,
Thanks for plugin, I have one issue, which I didn’t notice before or it was working few months ago.
I am creating new product, in Woocommerce Product SKU setting I have: “Use product slug, for example – your-product” option selected, which is best choice for my client. It should add automatically SKU based on slug, but it remains empty.

I’ve changed this option to “Letters and numbers, for example – 7SZ4G2” setting, and SKU was created automatically.

I have found a way around it, by generating SKUs in bulk with “Re-create existing SKUs?” option checked, but it should work without extra step to do.
