Adding a More link to Post Excerpts

Hi,

I love the functionality your plugin provides, but I’ve hit an issue. I’ve been trying to create a blog archive and it’s looking great apart from the lack of a working excerpt feature.

I’ve seen this thread answering this question to a point, but it lacks one thing, a read more link.

I’ve been trying to add something to the Advanced -> After field like this:

... <a href="'<?php the_permalink() ?>'">See More</a>

But it doesn’t seem to render the php and just breaks. If I keep it to HTML it works fine but I can’t use that for dynamic content.

Do you have any suggestions to work around this please as this is kind of essential.
