Hello,
I have been searching for ways to disable comments for older posts on my WordPress site. I know how to disable them for future posts and from what I have found on support pages I can enable/disable comments on each post individually but the changes have no effect.
What I try is to edit a post then go to Screen options, then uncheck the “Discussion” and “Comments” checkboxes then click on Update.
My WordPress version is 4.8.1.

I would appreciate any help as I’m getting a lot of spam for some older articles.
