For easy changes to the .htaccess file, this plugin maybe the quickest solution. Also the built in automatic backup is a nice feature.

Don’t rely too much on the syntax checker. I was unable to trigger it, testing three different edits that surely would break the file. Now I wasn’t really expect that to be more than a very basic safety net anyway so no big deal to me.

Tested in WordPress 5.7 RC3 and with PHP 8.0.0. Pleasantly surprised that the plugin supports the latest versions of WP and PHP.
