Hi!
My name is Kevin, and the website I’m asking about is meditationmag.com.
I’ve been using Super Socializer happily for a few weeks. It’s amazing. Until now I’ve only been using the Share buttons and the Facebook Comments.
Today I tried to enable the “social login.” I still don’t exactly understand how it’s supposed to work, but I wanted to try it anyway to play around with it.
When I clicked “enable social login,” my entire site went down. I couldn’t see the front end or the back end. Instead, I got HTTP Error: 500. I called GoDaddy support and they called it the “White Screen of Death.”
I quickly googled to find a solution, and I figured out how to disable the super socializer plugin via FTP by changing the name of the plugins/super-socializer folder to plugins/super-socializer-disabled. This fixed my site immediately.
The problem is, I really like Super Socializer and I want to continue using it. I want to restore the Facebook comments that I already had on my site, which I got through Super Socializer. I also want to figure out what “Social Login” is and see if I can set it up so that readers can just click a button and automatically be added to my MailChimp list.
Here are some possible reasons why this might have gotten messed up:
1. I created meditationmag.com as a multi-site installation (bad idea, but don’t know how to fix it). I activated the plugin under one of the child-sites (which is actually meditationmag.com). Not sure if this makes a difference.
2. I didn’t put in any API keys or anything. Just clicked the “activate social login” checkbox and clicked “save settings.”
Can you help me figure out how to fix the plugin and restore it on my site, so that I can restore the Facebook comments that I already got, and maybe even figure out how to set up the Social Login eventually?
