NextGEN Galery plugin causing strange characters on top of my WP page

Recently I noticed strange characters at the top of my WordPress pages. every page I open – including the wp-admin login page – shows these characters “� �DEV ��INO ��SYN ��SV ~ � � ” t�” at the top.

My WordPress is running on a Synology NAS DS918+

– Active theme:Twenty Seventeen – Versie: 2.4
– PHP version = 7.2
– DB = MariaDB 10
– I’m using Web Station
– .htcaccess file is ok!

I tried the debugging method of disabling all plugins and see whether the problem still occurs, It turned out it’s the ‘NextGEN Gallery’ plugin that is causing the problem.

Any Idea how to fix this without having to recreate my albums and galeries?
