Site lockout due to hack attempts

Over the past week, I have been experiencing literally hundreds of hack login attempts on my WordPress-based website, from multiple foreign IPs, with lock-out notification emails like like this one sent daily:

A lockdown event has occurred due to too many failed login attempts or invalid username:
Username: admin
IP Address: 5.188.62.147

IP Range: 5.188.62.*

Log into your site’s WordPress administration panel to see the duration of the lockout or to unlock the user.

As of right now, I am STILL unable to log into my site’s admin portal (link provided above).

My site is hosted by Digital Ocean, and they say that I must try configuring the WordPress firewall, and/or Wordfence settings.

If so, my assumption is that I must do this via an FTP client, directly with the server, seeing as I am unable to log into my admin portal?

If not, how so?

Either way, would GREATLY appreciate some advice, as I cannot use my site.

Many thanks and best,

KTC
