When I define a gallery of the slideshow type, when I get to the “Configure your layout” page of the edit gallery wizard, there’s “Main image size” item. If I choose “full (original width x original height)” my pictures are shown in full — but much too large for where the slideshow is set up.
If I pick any smaller size, it makes the slideshow display that size — but the images are cropped to that size rather than scaled. This is not useful! And not what I expect out of a slideshow tool. This must just be some simple misunderstanding, something I’m setting wrong, doesn’t it?
I need the larger images for another gallery displaying them (with a mosaic thumbnail set and then showing the full images in the default lightbox if people click through).
(All the images I’m working with are local WP media, nothing from remote sources.)
