Cost of Goods working incorrectly

I set up the cost of goods module as it has the potential to be very helpful. But, it isn’t working correctly with variable products. It is always showing the profit based off total sale price of product minus the cheapest variation. It always does the variable products by using whatever the cheapest costing product for every report. How can I fix this?
