Two versions of same image exists

I have an issue where images with “.jpeg” (instead of “.jpg”) will exist twice in my uploads.

See this example:

and
https://assets.thejewelleryroom.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/10014072_SBB_RING_1633A_YG_SINGLE_PAVE-300×300.jpeg

(both exist)

However, if you go to the “24×24” size, only the .jpg exist.

Why are there even two versions of the same file?
