Hello, I have spent about 10-15 hours researching this issue (all of my links in google are purple). This is killing me and I would love some help with this.
I know this is a VERY common issue spanning 4 years of forum posts (to which the issue has gone seemingly ignored??). My particular flavor of this issue is as follows. Standard products have no problems what so ever. Variable products are set up as such: Don’t manage stock on parent item, manage stock on variant, prices set for variant item. In woocommerce>settings>inventory, I have “Hide out of stock items” set, which is what causes the variant items to be hidden. I cannot deselect this as my shop would be overrun with out of stock items. I am still trying to nail down the root cause of NONE of my variable products showing up. They will show up if I deselect the “hide out of stock” and then my theme puts “out of stock” over the product image and I have to click each variation to try and find which variation is in stock. I have actually played around with a specific variable product and haven’t actually managed to make it change from “Out of stock” to “In stock” I have done everything I know and have read in the 20+ similar forums. I have already checked for plugin theme & conflicts, & everything is up to date. I believe this is an issue with woocommerce itself.
I would love to find a solution to my issue. From what I have read, it is a fundamental flaw with woocommerce. My question is, is the following functionality possible with woocommerce, if not, could a plugin or developer solve it?
I would like to manage stock for variable items by the variation NOT by the parent item. If a variation is out of stock, it will still show the other in stock variations. If no variation is in stock, the whole parent item will be hidden. I assumed that this was baked in to woocommerce from the beginning, but I have read so much about this issue, I am starting to question it.
Sorry for the long post, I wanted to include as much info as I could about my findings as well as my current situation. Please let me know if I left out anything. Thanks!
