My hosting company disabled one of my websites after they ran a scan on their servers and found a phishing link on the site. Google also picked this up in the search console of webmaster.

Wordfence did not pick this up or block it.
After a search via phpadmin the the database I found these links in the WFhits database table. After deleting all these links the hosting company ran another scan and said it was all clean and re-enabled the site.
First of all what is the WFhits table and how do I go about stopping this happening again. How did wordfence not block this.
