Products per impression integration confusion

I’m trying to configure GTM with the Google Tag Manager for WordPress plugin and am confused by the setting “Products per impression”

The description in wp-admin in the plugin settings is the following:

If you have many products shown on product category pages and/or on your site home, you could miss pageviews in Google Analytics due to the amount of data that is needed to be sent. To prevent this, you can split product impression data into multiple Google Analytics events by entering a number here (minimum 10-15 recommended) and adding gtm4wp.productImpressionEEC into your Google Analytics ecommerce event helper tag’s trigger.

Leave this value 0 to include product impression data in your pageview hit.
This plugin is active, it is strongly recommended to enable this integration!

Let’s assume I have a home page with multiple products, and category pages with multiple products.

I’m trying to figure out how this setting could be beneficial or not, and what it actually means from an analytics perspective, real world.

“you could miss pageviews in Google Analytics due to the amount of data that is needed to be sent”

What does this mean and how does it affect my analytics?

What is best practice for the average e-commerce shop that has category pages with multiple products?

More information would help me out.
