Confusing Search Console menus

Hello,

What’s the difference between those 2 menus please?

– General > Webmaster Tools > Google verification code:
(Get your Google verification code in Google Search Console.)

– Search Console > Settings > Enter your Google Authorization Code and press the Authenticate button.

Are those 2 different codes or the same one I get at the search console when registering a new site in order to verify ownership?

If not, what’s he purpose of the second one?
