I’m hoping someone has some insight on this. The majority of our store is grouped products so our users typically browse and search based on the grouped products.
I had assumed that grouped products functioned similarly to variable products in that when all the child products of the grouped product were out of stock, the grouped product would also become out of stock (and therefor hidden as per our settings). However, it seems that unless I manually set a grouped product to be out of stock it never changes its stock status.
What this means is that when a user searches for an item the grouped product still shows up, but when the user goes to the grouped product page none of the child products are visible and there is just a non-working add-to-cart button.
Is there any way to sync the stock status of grouped products based on their children so they can be invisible from the catalog and searches when out of stock? Could it be a custom cron job to update them?
