ever since installing this plugin, i’ve been getting emails from google search console stating “new amp issue detected for site”.
the issues have been:
– An AMP component ‘script’ tag is present more than once in the document
– A tag on this page requires an AMP component ‘script’ tag, which is missing
– The tag ‘amp-anim’ requires including the ‘amp-anim’ extension JavaScript
– The tag ‘amp-iframe’ requires including the ‘amp-iframe’ extension JavaScript
i believe the ‘amp-anim’ requires including the ‘amp-anim’ extension JavaScript error is caused by a rotating GIF ad that does not show on every page load. though, when i added in the “amp-anim” extension JavaScript in the head section of the amp configuration section, google console started complaining that a script tag is present more than once.
i’ve reported the issue the ampforwp team via email, and have not yet been able to isolate the root cause of the issues.
what i’m finding is that even though google search console will identify these as errors, if i use the amp validator tool or the chrome amp validator extension on the pages google console is complaining about, the tools will show many of the pages as “amp valid”.
i took 20 pages that google console was complaining about and i ran them through both validator tools, and got the below results.
this has to be a bug in the plugin somewhere, because results should not be this inconsistent and problematic.
note: i’m using the “swift” theme if that makes a difference.
