I tried a different plugin that claimed to do similar things that Duplicator does, but it didn’t work, had cryptic error messages and no documentation whatsoever.
after a few frustrating attempts, I saw Duplicator mentioned on a WP user forum and decided to give it a try. I’m very happy I did!
I used the basic, not Pro version, and Simply put it was a lifesaver!
It worked exactly as described. The documentation is detailed and informative, and should be easy to comprehend even for those unfamiliar with WordPress, CPanel and server localhosts.
Any delays or errors were due to my typos in the db name and password and it politely asked me to check my entry and suggested what the problem maybe and where I may look to figure out the problem.
Biggest challenge was the size of my db (it was over 500mb) but Duplicator displayed the exact size and even provided a list (in the filters) of really large files. Once I got past the size limit (I got rid of some really large media files), my WP site was moved with ease and efficiency.
User profiles, passwords etc were intact and all I had to do was notify everyone of the new url for the site.
Thank you for providing such capabilities, even with the (free) basic version of the plugin!
