General block editor does plugins like this a disservice

I would have given this plugin 4 stars for the effort that has gone into producing this plugin. It has some nice features and in places is better than Kadence blocks but in others it isn’t.

One let down is the general way that Gutenberg is implemented. Trying to locate different parts of the structure, mainly the row element, is the usual game of wack-a-mole in Gutenberg. One other small irritation is how, with this plugin is enabled a new paragraph block insists on creating itself before the user gets to make the decision on what block to add next. Again this could be Gutenberg related.

The one problem I have with these plugins is standardisation, and this is not the fault of the developers creating them. Following the discussion on WPTavern we see that people are coming to the realisation that we are back to the issue of plugin lock-in that has plagued anyone using specific themes and page builders. The new block editor should have addressed this by building in the standard structures for layout elements: sections, rows, columns, providing a hook/API for plugins to add their own interfaces, bells and whistles. Change plugin or theme and it least the basis layout structure would remain, without any cruft of shortcodes and comment tags left over.
