Tried the TwentyFourteen theme on a fresh WP install (4.9 and 5.0), and can’t edit the theme with the editor (specifically PHP files, .css file can be edited just fine).
This is on a fresh install, so no other plugins or themes are active. When I switch to TwentyNinteen or TwentyEighteen, themes can be edited using the editor (specifically PHP files).
The error you get:
Unable to communicate back with site to check for fatal errors, so the PHP change was reverted. You will need to upload your PHP file change by some other means, such as by using SFTP.
I use the editor a lot… is there a fix being prepared for this?
