Theme installed but can’t edit

Hi,
I just took over a site built using Elementor. I have deactivated and installed a new theme but can’t edit. When I go to edit a page it’s still the old site content built in elementor and the new theme and editor isn’t showing. The new theme is active. What am I missing? Other wordpress sites I’ve used have the classic editor with the drap and drop elements from the theme.
