Posts – using both IN and NOT IN

Hi

Is it possible to structure a posts shortcode where the tax operator simultaneously INCLUDES posts from a certain category, but EXCLUDES posts that also belong to another specific category?

For example, I have a post which is categorised as A and B… I have one area on my front page that shows posts from Category A. That part is fine.

However in another area of my front page, I have a post listing where posts may be allocated to both A & B, but because A is listed in the area above, I only want to show the posts that have been allocated to B, and which are not allocated to A.

I hope that makes sense… and any advice would be appreciated.
