Weird space on homepage between slider and sticky post

I recently moved my wordpress.com site to wordpress.org.

If you first go into my homepage, you will notice a large white space between the bottom of the slider and my first sticky post. After a few seconds (when the slider switches to the next picture), the sticky post (along with the rest of the page) will move up to close the gap!

Also, I notice in some of my column posts, you can see the Share icons sitting “on top” of the Read More button. I hope that makes sense or you can see it yourself. 🙁
